Kyiv attack that killed at least 15 peop
This is a terror that Kiev and other
cities of Ukraine are living under for
the last three and a half years. I know
that the attack is terrific, is
terrifying and we are very very scared
and devastated. But I want to stress
that this is just regular response by
Russia to all the attempts to bring
peace. This was their response to
attempts to of European leaders to put
some sanctions on them. This was their
response to the attempts of President
Trump to impose sanctions or bring them
to the table of negotiation. And this
Armageddon that we are under almost
every day and night is something that
has not stopped. This is the answer by
Russia on uh all to everyone who is
saying they want peace. It is they are
ready to negotiate. No, they are not and
you shouldn't believe any words that
Russia is saying but believe their
actions. attacking British Council today
is not a coincidence. Attacking uh the
EU representative office is not a
coincidence. Same way as just couple of
days ago they have attacked a factory in
the far west of Ukraine um in the city
of Mukacho. This factory was one of the
largest American investment into
Ukraine. So these attacks are very much
directed. they are to uh to show chaos
and create the distractions and pain in
Ukraine. People here really believe that
it is possible by uh President Trump's
support to put pressure on Russia. So
they would stop but it would definitely
not uh not uh appear uh after just
telling Russia that they need to stop.
It will need to be uh some really severe
actions and consequences for them for
what they're doing. You know, Garrett,
I'm thinking how many people that on uh
on Ukraine's independence day were
thanking President Trump for his attempt
to bring peace. How many of them were
killed this night in Kiev? And and my
heart is just breaking.
>> What are the emotions? You say your
heart is breaking. What are the emotions
when you see the pictures that you're
seeing? When you see the strikes, when
you hear the reports of 15 people,
including four children, some as young
as just two, being killed by Kremlin
strikes,
>> it's pain. It's also hate to people who
are committing it. But it's also pure
not understanding of how the world can
continue watching and and feed everyone
with those useless hopes that Putin uh
you just need to look him in the eye and
that this may end like that. As of right
now, Gareth, we haven't received any
confirmation from Kremlin on anything
that President Trump said he heard from
Putin. Not on the meeting with President
Zalinski. not of not of them confirming
that NATO allies can monitor potential
peace in Ukraine. They have denied all
of that and so right now they have
attacked us. So for us here in Ukraine,
nothing has changed like for since since
the last meeting in in Alaska. And this
is why it is so painful because these 15
people who who were killed, they paid
for the illusions that some Western
leaders still have that you can talk to
Putin.
>> What do you think the next few weeks
will bring in terms of this conflict and
in terms of any diplomacy?
We need President Trump and our European
allies to stand strong to anything that
uh Steve Witkov or anybody from
President Trump team uh who wants to
support Russia will be saying we need to
be answering with the pictures of
destructions in Kiev with the picture of
killed pe children uh to saying no
Russia doesn't want peace. There was a
reason why they did not agree to a an
immediate ceasefire. And so right now we
need to push exactly for it an immediate
ceasefire so that uh after that people
here in Ukraine will not be dying. We
just hope that President Trump finally
loses patience with Russia because it
was not only directed at Ukraine. It was
directed at American leadership and
their ability to hold the situation and
their ability to answer for the words
and the promises that they are making.
And and Kira, what can Sakir Stalmer do
to support? What can the United Kingdom
do? What can the coalition of the
willing do to support you at this time?
>> Increase the amount of air defense
systems. We we desperately need them.
You see the amount of drones this night
was more than 600. So uh with with the
limited abilities that we have right
now, we will not be able to take down
all those drones and missiles. And
second to stay strong with Ukraine and
to impose the next set of sanctions uh
the 19th package that is being prepared.
This is something that we need not to
sanction some parts of shadow fleet.
Sanction all ships from shadow fleet.
Not sanction some Russian companies.
Sanction all of them. They are all uh
right now complicit in in these attacks
and terror that is happening.
>> Joining us live from Kiev, the MP in
Ukraine, Kira Rudder. Good to have you
with us. Thank you.
